    Cheaper AND generally far better.
Between horrific prices and dismal flavours, it’s tough to find a decent Canadian wine under the 30-40 dollar price range.
Meanwhile a 40 dollar bottle from the Niagara peninsula is comparable to a 15 dollar bottle of French wine from a reputable region.

  2. You can also often find Canadian wines cheaper in Europe than here in Canada too. Last time I was back home in the UK I found Canadian Ice Wine for £8.99 at Aldi ($15) which would easily sell for $30-40 a bottle here in Canada

Because European wines have better value for money than Canadian wines for the most part

  4. Taxes!!!! My wife just got back from Spain and wine is .99 euro per bottle… the same thing is 15.00 here…. We are taxed to death

Booze here is taxed to shit. If it weren’t, it would be cheap too.

Here in BC its about $20ish for a bottle from the Okanagan purchased at the BCL. Price wise, its not great but its not terrible either. Especially considering the scales of production. A lot of the french wines will start you at about $20 here as well. Trick at the BCL is really to shop the sales where you can save $2-4 per bottle. It’s a good excuse to try new producers and grape varietals.
