Hallo, also bin ich gerade dabei, meinen Lizenz von Pakistan in einen deutschen Führerschein umgewandelt zu haben. Ich brachte alle Dokumente in die Fuhrerscheinstelle in meiner Stadt und er nahm den Antrag an, füllte meine vorhandenen Lizenzdetails usw. aus und gab mir diesen Brief zusammen mit allen Dokumenten, einschließlich meines ursprünglichen aktuellen Führerscheins von meinem Heimatland. Ich bestätigte von ihm, dass ich all diese diese zurücknehmen sollte und er sagte ja. Ich habe von vielen Menschen gehört, dass sie die ursprüngliche Lizenz bei sich behalten, da es illegal ist, zwei Lizenzen zu führen. Und mit meinem Deutschen nicht so gut konnte ich nicht alles verstehen, was er sagte. Hat sich das jetzt geändert?

When you pass your driving test and are issued your new German licence, then you will have to give in your Pakistani licence. At the moment if they took your current licence then you’d have to be driving around without one at all.
That letter only tells you that your data will be transferred to the place you’ll have to do your driving test at. You are supposed to check the data on it and notify them if anything is wrong or if anything changes.
You probably will have to turn in your current license at the moment they give you your new german one.
Yes they keep your original driver’s license to exchange to german. But don’t worry, not like they tell pakistani authorities you got a german one. Keep a copy of the old one, and when you’re back in Pakistan see if you can renew.
