I mean to be honest what can the US do? He’s a Salvadoran citizen held in Salvadoran prison. We can’t bring him back if they don’t let him go
It would be different if it was a dual citizen but even then that would be difficult. Countries have the right to imprison their own people
Sounded to me like he committed to *not* release him. Hard to say whether they have their own motivation for holding him, or if this was just a performance so that Trump can save face.
I mean the US is probably paying for him to remain. That is the whole point of the deal. Why would he let him out when Donald is paying the bill?
