Google’s failure to release an accompanying safety research report—also known as a “system card” or “model card”—reneges on previous commitments the company made.

Tech companies are backsliding on promises, experts fear

“These failures by some of the major labs to have their safety reporting keep pace with their actual model releases are particularly disappointing considering those same companies voluntarily committed to the U.S. and the world to produce those reports—first in commitments to the Biden administration in 2023 and then through similar pledges in 2024 to comply with the AI code of conduct adopted by the G7 nations at their AI summit in Hiroshima.”

“If we can’t count on these companies to fulfill even their most basic safety and transparency commitments when releasing new models—commitments that they themselves voluntarily made—then they are clearly releasing models too quickly in their competitive rush to dominate the field.”

“Especially to the extent AI developers continue to stumble in these commitments, it will be incumbent on lawmakers to develop and enforce clear transparency requirements that the companies can’t shirk.”

    2. I’ll never install Gemini, it’s the most abusive AI on you personal data, Google is evil.

    3. Companies have no obligations besides legal obligations and they tend to ignore even those if it is good for business. Without regulations they aren’t going to do shit to make AI safe.

Ffs, can you please do something useful and leave technology alone? The 2.5 version is by far the best for help with coding compared to any other model, I don’t give a single shit about some „missing report“. Leave. It. Alone.

Where can we see the official (signed by Google executives) list of binding „promises“ Google made to the US government or anyone else at „international summits“?
      There is no such thing.

No AI model is supposed to provide whatever „key safety report“ , what that even means?

Gemini 2.5 Pro isn’t out yet, it’s the experimental version that’s out. They will probably release a system card with the full release.

It’s always slightly surprising, but not really shocking, when major companies sidestep their commitments.
