    Kein Wunder, dass die Gesundheitskosten in der Schweiz so hoch sind!

    Vor ein paar Wochen war ich mit meiner Frau in Brasilien gereist. Wir gingen in eine Drogerie, weil ich eine entzündungshemmende Creme brauchte.

    Ich schaue mich danach um und finde eine, die das gleiche wie Voltaren Dolo ist, das wir hier finden. Die gleiche Marke GSK (jetzt Haleon), die in Nyon einen Stoff hat, nicht zu weit von meinem Leben entfernt. Während ich einen von ihnen nehme, sage ich meiner Frau als Witz, dass er vielleicht von diesem Stoff stammt. Ich war mir sicher, dass es nicht so war, dass der Preis (wie alle Medikamente) viel billiger war als in der Schweiz.

    Ich schaue auf die Schachtel und … wtf es stammt aus diesem Schweizer Stoff und es kostet ungefähr 12 CHF, während ich es zu Hause kaufe, zahle ich 39Chf dafür.

    Etwas ist wirklich mit unserem Gesundheitssystem in der Schweiz begeistert. Das gleiche Medikament aus demselben Schweizer Stoff ist auf der anderen Seite der Welt etwa dreimal billiger.

    Um klar zu sein, bin ich sehr froh, dass Brasilianer viel weniger dafür bezahlen, da sie auch weniger Kaufkraft haben. Es ist nur verrückt, dass ein Gut, das die Hälfte der Welt bewegte, billiger verkauft wird, wenn Sie es ein paar Kilometer von dort entfernt kaufen, wo es hergestellt wurde.

    Große Pharmaunternehmen spielen nur mit uns und dann hören wir jedes Jahr „Die Gesundheitskosten sind zu hoch, wir müssen Ihre Krankenversicherung erhöhen“. Big Pharma, Krankenversicherung und Teil der Politiker (die ihre Verantwortung für die Medizinpreise in der Schweiz haben) arbeiten von Hand, um verrückte Gewinne über unsere Gesundheit zu erzielen…

    Ich frage mich, wie lange wir das akzeptieren werden …

      If there is no „subvention“ coming from the state in brasil I don’t see other explanations. If we ignore the cost of shipping, i don’t thinck that the distribution cost 3 times more in Switzerland that in brasil.

      On photo from Brazil, it is 50g, on your screenshot it is 180g and different type (Pro XT vs Forte) — the latter one not sure what’s the difference.

      (Obviously, charging Swiss clientele with higher wages, but make your comparison correct)

      and the people working in the pharmacy make how much in Brazil compared to Switzerland? every single globally sold product is adjusted in price to every country. while some of it is purely to pump margin, economics aren‘t always that simple. Medicine tends to be unreasonably more expensive here, but the act of selling something is already worlds more expensive here than it is in Brazil or basically anywhere in the world. at the end of the day, 39.- is much less for the average Swiss than 12.- is for the average Brazilian.

      Totally agree. It makes sense that some things are more expensive because of import fees, transportation, etc. But for stuff like this, no excuse.

      (Just FYI, „fabric“ in English means cloth. The word for where things are manufactured is „factory“.)

      Because shipping costs close to nothing but a pharmacy’s rent and the salaries for employees are one order of magnitude higher than in Brazil

      Better example: Germany: Ibuprofen 400 mg (noname) (50 pieces) =3.49€ – Sun Apotheke (noname) 10 pieces =9.59 CHF (10.35€) – That is almost 15 times the price!!!

      I live in Nyon, there’s nothing that bothers me more than seeing a product made in the factory from Nyon being sold cheaper in neighboring France whilst I pay double in the town it’s manufactured in..

      So you think that renting a drugstore in Switzerland and paying the employees a good salary is as cheap as doing the same thing in Brazil + shipping costs?

      OP is comparing 100g with 180g in Switzerland.
      12.09chf 100g =>180g = 22chf.
      Then knowing a person in the Swiss pharmacy makes >4k/mo while the Brazilian makes 200chf/mo.
      Seems that the Swiss product is much more affordable in Switzerland than in Brazil.

      Imagine spending 10% of your salary in Voltaren.
      Imagine reducing the salary of the pharmacist to 200chf/mo, that would lower the costs right?

      But are any of this solutions better than we have now?

      Not healthcare related, but – my favourite ever shower gel is the DM brand one. Because we don’t have DM here, I go buy it in Germany, where it costs 55 cents per bottle, but I would genuinely pay 5 euros for it.

      Recently I checked the bottle, and it turns out it’s made in Switzerland.

      It’s not just pharmaceuticals. You can buy Toblerone cheaper in Hong Kong than you can in Switzerland. You can buy New Zealand grown fruit cheaper in Australia than you can in New Zealand. Economics, isn’t it?

      But Swiss prices are a (bad) joke, especially health costs.

      The funny part is that if it would be a prescription medication your health insurance wouldn’t reimburse it bought in Brazil (or more realistically for many of us in France). And this is distorting the free market.

      Insane. This is currently a big debate in the Netherlands as well. Not particularly in relation to healthcare cost but to groceries and discretionary products.

      Examples:

      – Nivea sunscreen: €26.99 in NL, €21.00 in BE, and €8.99 in DE.

      – HAK canned vegetables: €2.59 in NL, €0.89 in BE…

      And the list goes on and on…

      We have a tremendous medicine shortage as well.

      We built a system, where big corpos are allowed to bribe (or call it lobbying) politicians. We have the feeling of being in control by voting, while the only body that has something to say is the one who got money, hence big corps.

      Also reading the comments here makes me throw up. „buy the generica, its the same product“. Imagine another country is telling their people to buy the knock offs of a product produced in its own country just because the price is better.
      Fuck off.

      Our politicians are huge pussies. Instead of mandating our companies to sell the product cheaper in our own country, we discuss stupid rules about „removing the swiss cross from On shoes because its made in vietnam“.

      FYI, “fabric” means something other than what you think it means in English.

      I use Grazax (finally after TWO years of trying to get the treatment) I need to use it 6 months every years, there is no generic replacement, so my treatment is around 660 CHF per year. I will use it 3 years. 1,980 CHF.

      100 tablet package is 331 CHF here in Switzerland.
      3.31 francs per tablet.

      Exactly same brand, same dose, 30 tablet package is 24 CHF in Turkey.
      0.8 francs per tablet.

      Ask any immigrant from eastern Europe what they are buying when visiting family – ibuprofen, multivitamin and other drugs produced mostly in Switzerland but cheaper ~5 times 😀 but yeah prices in Switzerland include rent, labour cost etc. You can still find good deals here when shopping online, where E-Commerce Stores cut a lot of costs, but then… Less work for less skilled people. You can’t have it all 🙂

      Yes, there is a big price difference, but these two countries have different economy. You typically won’t buy these things as they’re mostly covered by your health insurance. It’s factory btw not fabric.

      It is more complicated than that, and, buy generic. For example, many of these drugs are ridiculously cheaper in African countries because they are tax free or subsidized e.g. TB and HIV drugs, or the result of some high level healthcare deals…Another good example is dewormer 😂

      I would add that Sunstore have their own no name product. Cheaper than the brand for this pain relief stuff.

      We have the biggest pharmaceutical multinationals here. And yet, they sell cheaper abroad… Doesn’t make sense.

      I was in the UK two weeks ago and I picked up some Ricola for my tickly cough.

      £1.25 (1.33chf) vs 3.70chf here in Switzerland.
