Despite Israel recovering from and still fighting a multifront war imposed by Islamists seeking its total destruction and the death of every Jewish citizen between the river and the sea, Sanders once again attempts to push for an embargo on Israel.
The last time he tried, only 19 votes supported him. This time, even fewer, just 15. It appears that, in some ways, the relationship between Israel and the US is growing stronger.
No surprises here but it will be interesting to see how much support ordinary Yanks will have for Israel when the recession kicks in. Israel will continue to receive billions for their security whilst the rest of the U.S. loses its financial security. Interesting and exciting times ahead for sure. I wouldn’t want to be a supporter of Israel when it hits the fan anyway.
They can’t agree on anything that benefits American citizens but at least on one thing America’s politicians are united. Paying attention yet?
Sanders has also backed lifting the ban on UNRWA funding. That’s the same UNRWA with ties to Hamas, a group which is currently perpetrating a brutal crackdown on Palestinians protesting against them. If his views were genuine, he’d support the ban and instead be advocating for more funding being given to more reputable agencies. But he didn’t do that.
Sanders is ardently pro-Palestine when it allows him to criticise Israel, but mostly quiet when it comes to criticising anything bad Hamas does to Palestinians. If you claim to care about a group of people and are then incredibly selective on what threats to said people you criticise, you will rightly be called a massive hypocrite.
Good. I’m a Sanders fan but Israel is our ally, I went to Palestine 4 years ago and there were anti US posters and ads splattered all over. Obviously they aren’t fans of Merica.
IDF up in this thread all hot and heavy. Netenyahu and IDF have done more to promote anti-semitism and make Jewish people less safe worldwide than Hamas could have ever dreamed of doing.
