      If you’d said to me three months ago that the United States could invade and occupy Greenland, I’d have likely checked your head for a tinfoil hat. But after Vice President JD Vance’s three-hour trip to a U.S. military base in Greenland, I’m starting to get concerned that Operation Arctic Freedom could be in the offing. 

      Vance’s brief sojourn to the autonomous territory, which is still part of the Kingdom of Denmark, was perhaps the most insane and inappropriate diplomatic foray ever conducted by an American official.

      So is there likely to be a European response or is Trump just keep trumpin in perpetuity?

      I could see it happening. The president doesn’t really need congress to declare war, he can simply order the military to begin using force and the military will obey. Whether or not the president is actually serious about his desire for Greenland is another thing, as the president’s word has proved exceedingly unreliable.

      It would be the most powerful country on earth invading one of the smallest, and a repudiation of the premise America was founded on: the right of people to be free and decide their own fates, to be self governing. The people of Greenland have already spoken on this in a variety of ways.

      What excuse and emotional blackmail can they use to manipulate American Support for this? They don’t even have the excuse of a dictator to invade like Iraq here.

      Musk is after rare earth minerals. The Ukraine and Greenland is all about greedy American capitalism physically confiscating what is needed to maintain global profitability. America wants access to all resources for minimal investment with maximum profitability

      This should’ve been a topic in 2010; I think maybe it’s close to a done deal now and we’re just moving forward. Geopolitically it’s a must happen. Extremist are going to freak out but the tea leaves aligned a long time ago.

      I find it ironic that the US is now bullying Denmark, the same country whose own intel agencies were spying on (danish politicians, business people etc) for the US as well as spying on fellow Europeans for the US.

      How come no one is bringing up this point?

      This affects such a small population of people I’m not even sure it can be considered geopolitical. 50,000 people is the population of a slightly industrialized town. So geographically speaking it carries zero weight who keeps Greenland’s lights on

      Politically speaking there is more conversation, and it has to begin with the fact that Denmark’s settling of the place during their colonial beginnings (1721) are no longer a worthy premise for this conversation to be avoided

      Greenland is regional to the US Atlantic seaboard more so than it is to Denmark. That means if the US controls it, the people there will enjoy cheaper prices and more industrial opportunity, which Denmark is wholly unable to even provide them

      What really needs to be stated quite loudly, is how any attempt by any country, to absorb another country or people, even when it is arguably supported by the entirety of their people as they may gain from it, is thwarted by a communal blob of journalists and international bureaucrats

      The number of flags on the planet must be maintained for the current amount of disarray to be maintained, which is capitalized on by this same communal blob. Empirically driven conquest still may be a dirty word, but absorbing a local landmass controlled by a fully dismantled empire can’t be defined this way, so perhaps stop trying to
