A Mars return mission would be so complex, that there’s a high likelihood of failure. So it’s good that humankind is sending two. If the Chinese one doesn’t work then the American one can be back up.

If they both succeed it increases the chances of finding evidence of simple microbial life on Mars, either from the past or perhaps still living. Though I wonder will that turn out to be life seeded from Earth? It seems very likely Earth bacteria must have made it to Mars in the past via asteroid ejecta from Earth.
