Alert-Bowler8606 on 31.03.2025 6:20 a.m. Oh no, I hope the mum comes back and takes care of them… She will probably move them to another place, I’ve seen them do it.
ToSupport on 31.03.2025 6:46 a.m. You should send the photo to YLE Luonto-ilta: https://yle.fi/aihe/a/20-205687 Many would learn from this if they take it on the show (which I think they might).
Rusalkat on 31.03.2025 6:58 a.m. I suggest to have two kind of bird boxes. One with a metal plate (with round hole around the entry) for birds and another set without for squirrels. Btw woodpeckers eat young birds, so one more good reason to have the metal plate version
smhsomuchheadshaking on 31.03.2025 7:12 a.m. I thought these are puppies and was extremely confused, thanks for someone who pointed out they are squirrels. I feel very stupid now lol.
EvaTheE on 31.03.2025 7:14 a.m. Squirrels can have multiple nests, and they move their kids between them.

Lesson learned – dont fix bird boxes between months of March and May!
Are they.. alive?
Was the hole chewed to be wider?
