  1. I lived there most of my life and find it boring. It’s more of a habitat than a proper city. And cities are not caffes.

  2. Podgorica is straight up most boring capital when it comes to entertainment probably, one extermely expensive cinema, 2 billiard clubs, maybe few dart caffes and thats it honestly when it comes to stuff to do here that isn’t sitting from coffee to coffee.

It’s not so boring, but it could be better. Great location anyway, just an hour from the sea.

  4. You mentioned it, Podgorica as heavily bombed in WWII and 95% of its core was destroyed. That one building that you saw and was pleasantly surprised is one of the few that survived. Problem is that after WWII communists took over the country and they didn’t rebuild it, they just built it new in their own brutalist communist style, that’s why Podgorica is boring for tourists.

As someone who was born in Podgorica and spent all my life here – I love it. I feel special connection to it, whenever I leave for a bit longer period of time I alway miss it. However I can see why foreigners would not like it too much, it’s not like there are many tourist attractions.

People here take a lot of things for granted and speak bold statements. Is Podgorica the most interesting capital in the Europe, not even close, is it most interesting in Balkans, still not even close, but if you compare it to other towns of that size it is actually quite ok. Not a lot of cultural landmarks since it was basically zeroed to the ground in the WW II and it became the capital only after that.

That being said, the city offers a decent amount of restaurants, hotels and cafes to enjoy, most of the times full of people. Great connections to the south and northern part of the country, historical heritage and the biggest lake which is also a national park within its territory.

To conclude it is not the greatest tourist attraction in the country 100% it is not within the top 5 even. But depending on the reason of your visit, being a business trip or a tourist trip I believe that you can organise a few interesting days and that it isn’t a waste of time.
