I’d take the A7. The A3 has massive construction going on especially along the Ruhr Area between Bottrop and Köln with traffic jams at nearly any time.
I would take the one on the top to avoid traffic in the Ruhrgebiet and around Frankfurt.
If it’s Sunday or late evening the A3 is great
I prefer the A7 odds on a massive traffic shut down are higher on the A3 added the scenery is nicer.
Honestly, there not much in it. Avoid Frankfurt at rush hour that’s a must.
