The one that has just said Islam will be the rule of the land, and sorry, no sorry, for the few christians left (cradle of Christianity in the world, a decade ago 10% of the populations, now barely 2%)

If so why couldn’t Assad do it? He really really tried.
When your region or country is made up of thousands of clans, and as history continues to show us irregardless if they are of the same religion or different sects of that religion it requires a strong leader/dictator (I said it) to keep the peace (peace in this case is on a spectrum) between all the clans.
