Given the lack of a business case for the moon and Mars, would the rest of the world not be better off letting China waste money on the new space race?
Many futurists think planets are not the future in any case – once you are out of the gravity well, why go back?
Probably more than we are for their preeminence in Earth politics. Their star is waxing while the US is waning.
This sounds a bit like fear mongering to drum up funding.
I’m all for it, as a space race drums up innovation. The problem is that they are still pretty far behind to truly light a fire under the US.
Every time I see a pro China article on this subreddit, 2 minutes of research reveals that they’re just doing something that someone else already did first.
I don’t even bother checking anymore.
