Doesn’t really matter. Most of people in Turkey have their savings in USD or Euros

If you take a different timeframe – one year until 3 days ago – then it’s only a 10% loss in a full year. It’s every time Erdogan does stupid things that the lira slides.

But Erdo is the greatest and best and the Turks are the greatest people that ever walked the earth. How come? I am shocked.

It has lost 75% of its nominal value against the euro. This doesn’t mean that the average Turkish citizen is 75% poorer though. In fact, the per capita GDP PPP for Turkey has risen significantly over the same period.

Still won’t go back there. Especially because most of the tourist bars and restaurants charge in Euros to scam you out of any savings due to their weak currency. Try paying in Lira? they will give you a bad Euro to Lira exchange rate, its almost London prices in Side for a meal!

Coming to Cyprus for the first time this June 🙂

The Sanctions after Russia/Ukraine conflict is also a major factor to drive the lira down as most of the trades are done on black rather than on lira..,, i.e wheat, cotton and auto spare parts
