Hardly seems like an apples to apples comparison
So a NASA glamour shot looks better than stepping off the station shot?
Yeah it probably didn’t a lot of weird stuff to their bodies they’ll never recover from. Nine months is a lot!
I mean…. left is stylized, dyed hair, lighting, make up.
Right is harsh lighting, just stepped off space voyage that went 8 months longer than expected + sorry didnt have time to dye my hair and put make up on in near zero gravity lol
I’m sure there are big impacts but this article seems like little more than click bait. The main difference in those pictures is hair dye, a bit of tan, and good lighting. It’s like a makeover show where 90% of the uplift comes from adjusting the colour filters.
Sigh. They were never stuck. And 9 months isn’t particularly notable.
There was a case a few years ago when a Russian crewed launch had a mid-flight abort. Caused a ripple effect in how the ISS was crewed.
At least 1 American already onboard had his/her 6 month mission extended to 12.
Even before that Scott Kelly had a 12 month long mission so they could test the change in his physiology and compare it to his twin brother who stayed on earth.
It’s not new. No one was stuck. Can we move on already.

To be fair, it’s entirely more surprising when people look the same as they did *seven years ago.* The article has more recent photos of her including a couple before she went up on Starliner (spoiler, it isn’t as dramatic as compared to the picture being headlined) but it’s still pretty dirty to lead with older photos that make it seem like they’ve been up there for eons.
