When Voyager 1 took the Pale Blue Dot photo in 1990, NASA engineers initially resisted the idea. They thought turning the spacecraft around just to take a picture of Earth was a waste of time and resources.
But Carl Sagan insisted, believing this single image could change humanity’s perspective on itself. Decades later, Pale Blue Dot remains one of the most powerful images ever taken.

We so very badly need somebody like Carl Sagan to step into the limelight – a person with none of the intense controversy, hatred, divisiveness, greed, pomp and bluster, but instead a very wise, intelligent and thoughtful person who calmly and positively talks instead of yells.
