It seems that there are two possibilities here: putting more pressure on Iran to force it to give up its nuclear program or attacking Azerbaijan. Normally I wouldn’t consider the second option, but in light of our government’s recent unexpected statement that Armenia is preparing to attack Azerbaijan in April, this option must also be taken seriously.
Again, I speculate that if the U.S. agreed with Armenia to use its land to put pressure on Iran, then Armenia should get something big in return, which should be worth worsening relations with Iran.
they have been holding american exercises every year, no? probably more training and lessons in how to supress protesters or something, or just putin getting desperate and bombaring kremlin propaganda after talks about a peace deal
