Luggages go under the seats but people are retarded

Depends on the occupancy. But posting it on Reddit won’t make the people doing it change their behaviours.

You could always let them know that they can place their mid-sized luggage in the space between the seats…

This infuriates me so much, I will look very angry and shake my head slightly while passing.

In my experience, a lot of people travelling with luggage are not the most frequent train users (either local car users that don’t want to pay airport’s parking or tourists from countries with less public transport). They don’t understand that the train is not well adapted for this use (because it’s a minority of train users) and that other people may be bothered.
But luckily, there are also lots of nice travellers, who care about other users. I try to focus on those.

Next step is, being low key pissed if someone just sits down, without having asked „isch doh noh frei?“. The seat may have been unoccupied, but you still should ask.

travelling with big luggage is always a pain on IC train like this. If the carriage is full, it’s socially acceptable to confront the owners… at your own risk
fng185 on
Most of the trains serving the airport are extremely poorly equipped to handle the amount of luggage that is to be expected.

Nope. If there are other free places. If there are not enough free places, I would tell them that some of their luggage can go under their seat.

It is infuriating but let us identify whose fault is this: there is so little and inefficient space for suitcases in Swiss trains. I have traveled in the UK and Germany: they may lack in punctuality but they figured out the problem of suitcases far better than SBB.
alsbos1 on
I don’t think the big luggage can actually fit anywhere else.
taintedCH on
I ask people to move their suitcases and they always do. If they refused I would just put it in the aisle and let the ticket inspector shame them.

Depends on the occupancy. If there is enough room for people to sit, i couldnt care less, why should i?!
If the train is full then posting it on reddit wont change anything, it neither helps your situation to sit nor would it educate the owners of the luggage.
The only real solution to your problem is to open your mouth and talk to the owners of the luggage, everything else is just farming for confirmation and internet points.

We have also to say that the majority of regional trains that go to the airports have no dedicated space for luggage.
I do find it mildly infuriating and hence I lightly shake my head while passing

Imagine how infuriated I was a few weeks ago on crutches with a full leg brace finding the disabled seats covered in bags while I was on my way to a medical appointment.

Yes, SBB must absolutely add a luggage car and force them to leave excessive luggage there.
Philsick on
Maybe we need to change the rules. Every seat used needs a ticket. That would be 4 tickets only for these bags + those for the passenger. I guess the problem would be solved.

I once was returning on the IC2 from Lugano and there was an asian woman occupying 8 seats with two big luggages, one in the middle of each set of 4 seats. She wouldn’t put one over or under the seats, she wouldn’t put one in the luggage area (where there was plenty of space).
I confronted her and she said that she didn’t want to put her luggage in the designated area for that. Some people even were annoyed that I confronted her, and the conductor later saw the situation and didn’t do anything. Shame on you SBB

This is a very common occurrence. I travel in the IR 35 daily and every day I see people that do the same. With luaggage, skis, bags etc. Our old trains are very poorly equipped to handle a lot of luaggage, especially the old ones and the S Bahnen. SBB can really learn something from ÖBB for example. If you are travelling with luaggage. Try to find a luagge rack, put it under or between seats or on top. And if you are a tourist it is safe to leave your bags skis and what not in the rack.

If the train is empty I don’t care. There is not a lot of space for big luggage unfortunately. They could send it though. If the train is full it is unacceptable. They have to leave it in the entry.
Conscious-Network336 on
It is not the passengers fault. There is just not enough space for luggage keeping especially on trains to the airport.
