>Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev gave a speech at the 12th Global Baku Forum on Thursday
>Against the backdrop of the unprecedented step towards signing a treaty, Aliyev’s speech was nonetheless full of grievances, conspiracy theories, and attacks on Armenia, France, the EU, and Western media.
>He began the address by extolling what Azerbaijan had achieved in energy reforms and the hosting of the COP29 conference, before quickly switching to allegations that ‘some Western media, which President [Donald] Trump calls fake news’, had engaged in a ‘campaign to discredit Azerbaijan, blackmail us, and spread rumors, and different disinformation’.
>Aliyev singled out ‘the Washington Post, New York Times, Politico, Newsweek, and the Associated Press’ as ‘fake news outlets’ that were ‘just implementing the instructions of the US State Department’. He also mentioned French President Emmanuel Macron, who he has long been at odds with, accusing him and French media of planning a ‘coordinated campaign of blackmail and slander aimed at boycotting COP29’.
>‘All that [Armenians] say, for us, has zero meaning’

Feeling’s mutual. Aliyev’s broken every single pact, agreement, truce, word, we’ve ever made with them.

I like how we’ve forgotten that they broke every single term of the 2020 trilateral ceasefire. Definitely won’t happen again guys don’t worry.

Rasmus canbacks assumption of whitewashing and diplomacy being the cause of the news of an agreement for the peace deal also works in this case. It really seems like mounting pressure on Azerbaijan, finally “forced” this. And now they also have to maintain face to their population, and to the international community who’s asking. “If you agree why don’t you sign?”

We don’t care, and will take the first opportunity we have to right every wrong committed against us, with interest. Which of course you understand, scum.

None of you are paying attention to what he is saying. He is very clearly parroting Trump. Mentions USAID, because it was one of the very first agencies to come under fire…
He is basically saying “Dear Trump, I am your lapdog, you can trust me. Those Armenians? They’re siding with people like Pelosi and Schiff…”, who if you have paid any attention, are Trump’s arch-enemies.
Pay attention to this rhetoric instead of dismissing as him talking outta his ass…
These are directed at Trump, to fill his ear. And where is our government? When are we gonna learn to be the first to do this?
