That’s a very Big area. Perhaps you hike better near Waren (Müritz). That’s a great National Park with thousands of lakes. It’s absolutely gorgeous.

The region between Schaalsee and Ratzeburger See. If you’re lucky you’ll also see some of the wild nandu population roaming around.

Also Werder/Havel, Caputh etc. You can visit the Einsteinhaus.

Plöner Seen, Lübeck, wakentiz, along thr former DDR Border, Ratzeburg, Möllner Seen, Unesco Biospärenreservat Schaalsee…..

    4. Ratzeburger See & Schaalsee, Holsteinische Schweiz, Schwerin castle, and Lűbeck

    5. I can only speak for Schleswig-Holstein. Lübeck is a must see (it was one of the leading hansiatic cities, the history about it is pretty cool I think). Kiel is okay but you have to see the right places. A popular beach is Weißenhäuser Strand but it’s a bit more east to your route. But you could visit other. Plön and the area have the „Plöner Seenplatte“, a big area with lots of lakes. The city Plön itself (especially the plöner castle) is very nice (but be careful they can’t drive). Gottorf has a nice castle as well. Eckernförde, I would say, is one of the nicest citys in SH. Schleswig and Flensburg are nice as well. Schleswig is famous for the nearby Haitabu, on of the oldest remainings of viking settlement. Flensburg has a big danish community. Didn’t been to these to that often tho. Rendsburg has the „Rendsburger Hochbrücke“, a high elevation railway (don’t know exactly how to translate that) but meh, don’t go there just for that. And that’s pretty much all big things in central-/east SH. And for the love of god, avoid Neumünster under any circumstances.

    7. hiking? more like going for a long walk it is xD… im from bavaria and if a hike does not at least have 1000ft of height difference i wont even use my good shoes for it…

the word hiking for a southener implies half a mile of altitude going up an another going down again sry i dont make the rules

    8. Dunno but hiking in a 99% flat area wouldn’t rly excite me that much 🤨

This area is 100% flat and hiking in between the many sights mentioned in this thread can actually quite boring. I would definitely recommend cycling over hiking in this region. Infrastructure is quite good if you do some planning. Look up the Elberadweg.

    10. Hamburg to Berlin along the Elbe and the Havel is a beautiful cycling trip

The Wendland region east of Lüneburg has some hidden gem villages like Hitzacker and a great Forestm the Görde. Due to it’s remotenes the Riverbank of the Elbe river is a great nature reserve. On the east siede of Elbe you can follow the [Grünes Band](https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gr%C3%BCnes_Band_Deutschland), the former inner german Border which is a natur reserve.

    12. Why leave out Hamburg? A boat tour through the port, Miniatur Wunderland, Elbphilharmonie Plaza (free), Hochbunker, lots of musicals. Lots of other stuff too, you can even make your own chocolate

    13. I have a secret tip for you.

In Flensburg, there is a little area called Wassersleben, right on the Danish border. There is a nice, quiet cooperative hiking trail on the border, going from the beach through the nearby hills and woods.

      54,8317678, 9,4198007

These are the coordinates for the start. There are signs in German, Danish, and I think English about the trail with a recommended route.
