It’s the mainstream belief within the administration and Ukrainian politik that Zelensky would be ousted if elections were conducted, due to war fatigue and rampant corruption. The significantly deteriorated relations between the US and Ukraine have also bolstered implicit criticisms of Zelensky, threatening his political power.
