IDF has just announced a brand-new X account in Turkish. „The platform will be used to provide reliable and instant updates on developments regarding the IDF“, says the Spokesman. The article considers it an „unusual“ move, probably in response to increasing Turkish activity in Syria.
We don’t talk about Turkey enough. They are going to be one of the key geopolitical players in both Europe and the Middle East, if they aren’t already. And perhaps we ought to see their past 100-odd years of relative obscurity as the aberration, not their reemergence. There’s a reason the Ottoman Empire was so powerful and existed for as long as they did. Istanbul is the crossroads between Europe and Asia.
