    Der Vermieter bittet mich, ihm eine Servicegebühr von 10 Euro für einen Wohnungsbeberbestätten zu zahlen. Ist das normal / erlaubt?

      Wtf. To my knowledge they are required to give you one. I never paid for one.

      They could have also just send you a digital one per mail. There was no need to mail you a letter. But i guess they could ask for the cost of sending the letter?

      In Germany, landlords are **not allowed** to charge tenants a fee for issuing the *Wohnungsgeberbestätigung* (landlord’s confirmation of residence). This document is required for your registration (*Anmeldung*) at the local residents‘ office, and the landlord is legally obligated to provide it without charging you.

      The relevant law is § 19 of the **Bundesmeldegesetz (BMG)**, which states that the landlord must issue the confirmation within two weeks of move-in. There is no mention of any fee being allowed.

      You can politely remind your landlord of this obligation. If they insist, you could refer to the law or contact your local *Meldebehörde* (registration office) for advice.

      A landlord is obligated to hand it out to you for free when you move in. Never heard about a fee for that.
      A quick google search tells me that you don’t have to pay anything. Even if the contract tells you something else.
      Don’t pay it.

      As others pointed out, that’s totally illegal.
      I do have one question because of a different peculiarity I noticed:

      Why do they call you „Mitbewohner“?

      lol wtf. that’s a thing your landlord has to provide by law. why would he charge you for that? you definitely don’t need to pay this

      He just has to download, print and fill out the document. He did nothing to earn 10 Euros to be honest. 😀
