There’s absolutely plenty of opportunities for China here. I think the ignored discussion is how China and Russia are not allies. They are (were?) both aligned against US/EU, but they are still big rival superpowers with nukes and share borders with each other.

China did not come out to bat for Russia with their invasion of Ukraine. They offered limited support because it directly countered their other, more immediate threat of the US/NATO. China I’m sure is keenly aware of the threat that Russia and the US cooling off relations would be a massive threat to them.

This article seems to not touch on that enough imo, and reads more like China and Russia are buddies or will just pretend the other doesn’t exist.
