The EU is spending more money on Russian fossil fuels than on financial aid to Ukraine. Analysts see the purchasing Russian fossil fuels by the EU as akin to sending financial aid to the Kremlin and enabling its invasion.

The collective EU is the greatest hypocrite here. They blame the US for siding with Russia, when it was them who financed and continue to finance Putin’s war machine the last 20 years, despite warnings from multiple US administrations not to do so.

Soon there will not be any Russian gas and oil left.

The reality is the EU can’t switch off Russian gas over night. The EU went from like 40% of gas being Russian in 2021 to around 10% now. That’s quite a quick switch, but getting to 0% Russian gas is another hurdle, think the goal is by 2027.

This quote from the article is extremely confusing “In the calendar year 2024, the EU spent 39% more on Russian fossil fuel imports than it set aside for Ukraine. The aid figure does not include military or humanitarian contributions”. So when the article states that the EU spent more on fossil fuels than aid to Ukraine what does that actually mean if they are excluding both military and humanitarian aid for the comparison figures? The article also claims that the EU only sent €19 billion to Ukraine last year but figures of aid contributions for all EU countries seem to actually be way higher than that.

The article is pure bullshit. The EU spent like 3-4 times as much money on Ukrainian aid than it did on Russian oil and gas. They compare all the oil and gas purchased by all countries with some minor part of the Ukrainian aid. I don’t even know what they’re comparing it to, but the EU institutions gave 46 billion in financial aid and that’s not counting any individual countries aid.

Eu needs to start importing Canadian oil and gas
