IMHO, right now Europe already need full-blown militarization and mobilization.

    2. I hope this trend continues. I don’t care about what percentage of GDP goes where but it’s a great opportunity for EU leaders to actually control their own destiny and leave the US behind. It’s a wake up call for them but also should be seen as a positive wake up call.

All of Europe needs to push to 5% minimum while building up a military industry to deter Russia.

Europe needs to make it very clear that its no pushover, it needs to build a strong military that makes it a peer competitor to Russia, China and the United States..

    4. France was having riots because they couldnt budget for their current social security. Wonder how the people will react to more spending for the military..

    5. wtf 5% is ludicrously high, like, unless this is going all for salaries 5% was colonial-era spending levels, france doesnt need to subjugate hundreds of millions of people anymore, nor doe the UK

the US has been below 4% for close to 40 years and they have a bajillion foreign bases and power projection europe doesnt need to

also this is like the most unpopular thing ever that wont pass the french parliament

There is a lot of russian Money lying around, let’s not forget about that

    7. Lol, with a current 6%+ deficit and a country that goes up in flames every time someone proposes the slightest fiscal reform.

Important caveat- he says he’ll push for 5% if the US basically washes its hands of Europe. We’re not quite there yet

Will be interesting to know how they’ll pay for that. They have been struggling for awhile how to pass the budgets they had prior to this coming up.

    10. Time to buy Dassault, Thales and Safran stocks and maybe a little Rheinmetall
