      I will be downvoted but together with Jasper Pillen he was the only one saying something coherent when he was a member of the commissie defensie.

      With what happens to US under trump, I would suggest refraining buying american defense hardwares. Some European ones are incredibly affordable and reliable such as:
      – Swedish CV90
      – Swedish Saab Gripen
      – French AMX light tanks
      – Italian or French ships Fincantieri or anything from Naval Group France
      – German Marder, Leopards, more A400M

      Of course these are easier said than done. But I think the current global dynamics should be stepping stone for a more robust EU defense sector.

      Edit:
      Would like to add more countries that are friendly to EU and Belgium as potential suppliers for defense armaments:
      – Japan: their light tanks and naval ships are very capable. They’re just a bit reluctant in technology sharing and being a very close US ally means their policy might swing following that of Washington.
      – Korea: Poland has bought hundreds of their MBT. 
      – Australia: their bushmaster has been crucial in Ukrainian war.

      We have all the capacity domestically to build an armoured vehicle. Cockerill already offers the I-X which could be interesting, but additionally has acquired Arquus which gives it pretty much all the capacity to develop and produce what we need without us having to spend a dime on a foreign economy.
