    Was denkst du?

    1. You don’t have to tip at all in self serving restaurant. For them, it doesn’t hurt to try, but they will not expect you to tip.

The tipping culture in Yerevan is unfortunately getting worse, but is nowhere near US levels.

    2. New rule: 10% service charge is illegal unless it’s for staff.

I’m tired of paying 10% for management and then another 10% for staff.

    3. Oh, I was here a couple of days ago. Tom Yam was mediocre at best, portions were small, and I was confused by why I
should leave a tip in a self service restaurant. Yeah, not the end of the world, but c’mon.

    4. I’ve been seeing the QR code tipping service becoming more popular in Yerevan, but tbh, I would never want to send my tip through some service in the hopes they’ll transfer the money to the service worker. I’m not saying it’s all a big conspiracy, but if you’re going to tip your server, tip them in cash. It’s easier for them and less likely to get skimmed off of by their manager or a third-party service. So just ignore when they bring you these QR cards or leave these stickers on the table.

I grew up in America and have always hated tipping culture (Specifically, I hate how service workers must rely on their tips because they don’t earn a living wage). Just don’t tip unless they’re really outstanding. Then give them cash directly. It also means more (from a humanistic perspective) to give it to them face-to-face to show your appreciation.

Omg, all this moaning and whining that they have to give like what $2 or $3 to the lowest earning workers! Gee, don’t give if you don’t want to but sounds kind of pathetic like those in the US who debate how much tip they have to leave 18% or 20%!

    6. It goes perfectly well with the mountain of food that people order and dont finish. Never seen such waste in the US. Քեֆ ենք անում:

The kitchen staff deserve a tip as much as anyone, their pho is very good, so I tip 10% there.
