    1. At least from an outsider’s prospective (Alberta) it feels like the opposition never really got the ball rolling this election and let For take all the momentum/oxygen out of the room. Seems like they’re responding to Ford more than they are offering a loudly advertised alternative to him. Ford also seems to be constantly seizing every opportunity he can to make himself look good in regards to the trade war and general anti-Trump sentiment etc. To the point that he’s coming across as much more politically savvy than his opponents, even when his actual administrative track-record is quite shaky.

Ford will probably win & sail off into the sunset around 2028-2030 before another election & leave his successor to deal with the political fallout, while the opposition will spend those years reorganizing. Crombie will have the benefit of making The Liberals firmly the leaders of the opposition, but considering she underperformed in regards to her initial promise of winning over Ford’s base, with Ford even increasing his majority, means it’s not quite clear whether the party will be happy to keep her on, or demand her resignation etc. By contrast though, Stiles seems like she’ll have no choice but to resign, considering this will be the ONDP’s worst performance since 2007 etc.
