A series of incidents where undersea data cables that link Europe with North America were severed have caused NATO countries to step up patrols in the North Atlantic, and to monitor more closely the Russian shadow fleet. Since the patrols have been stepped up, there have been no further incidents. Thus far there is not enough evidence to directly accuse Russia of sabotage, though the timing and the frequency of these incidents of late certainly raises these questions.
