Ein Nachbar gab mir einen riesigen Umschlag von Bildern aus einem Nachlassverkauf, und dies waren einige der Weltraum -Themen. Sie stammen aus einem Schrottbuch, das einem Paul T. Richard aus West Nyack, NY, gehörte. Er war Ausstellungsdesigner und Modelhersteller im Museum of Natural History. Er hätte vielleicht eine Verbindung mit dem Smithsonian gehabt haben. Jede Hilfe bei der Identifizierung der Raketen/Affen wäre großartig (ich sehe, dass die eine Rakete mit Sm 75 Thor gekennzeichnet ist).

The terror that animal felt is horrible.
Progress tied to this kind of cruelty is progress towards a total lack of morality, great we have rockets and all it cost us was trading conscious and compassion for desire and ambition.
This will not end well for most, but the ambitious insist we must drive full speed in the fog to reach the future as fast as we can.
What a horrible existence. Why not just remove it’s arms and legs? /s Science can illuminate and it can create monstrosities.
The US is funding the genocide of tens of thousands of Children in 2024, and people are acting all shocked by this from the 1960s.
OK, I think I can shed a little bit of light on this. At some point in the early 60s, General Electric had a contract to house the monkeys for this program. It was in the GE facility that is now owned by Lockheed Martin in King Of Prussia, Pennsylvania. (if you’ve ever been to the giant King Of Prussia Mall, this huge GE/LM building is located southwest of the mall, on top of a hill.). The monkeys were kept in a cage behind the GE building in a courtyard. In talking with employees approximately 20 years ago, we verified that this was the case from people who were still working in the building, but close to retirement. The story goes that the person who was assigned to take care of the monkeys was actually hated by the monkeys. There was someone else who worked on a completely different program, who actually was liked by the monkeys. That person was then tapped to at least feed the monkeys so they would be a bit happier. Really cool story and a piece of history for people who work in that building.

The way humans treat animals is horrifying. If you don’t agree, you haven’t done your research.
Ok, I’ll throw in my very unpopular, I suppose, opinion, and ask: would you like to be the first test „pilot“ instead of the monkey?
Like, hand on a bible, or whatever suits your fancy, if somebody tells you that you can take the animal’s place in some new, probably deadly, experiment, would you?
