So you have a ticket for the whole trip? If you are delayed by more than 60 min you have a claim for 25% of the ticket price, if it goes over 2 hrs that rises to 50%. 

You could also cancel the whole trip and get a full refund under both circumstances. 

So I don’t know who told you the story about no compensation, unless there’s other things in play that you didn’t mention, that’s not true.
