    2. You killed it? WtF. Could have been a European hornet or a wasp queen. Difficult to tell from the pictures. Next time, plastic cup, trap it, and cardboard underneath and set it free

      Looks like a European hornet. Its actually a very useful species (e.g. hunts wasps) and its protected.

    4. yeah looks like a hornet. take a look at the outside of your windows and make sure that there is no nest… will get uncomfortable once you have a whole regiment of them buzzing around

    5. No, that’s our regular native hornet. It’s a queen though, those are bigger than normal workers. They are currently flying and trying to find a good spot for this year’s nest.

    6. Just want to say, while these hornets look super scary, they are pretty friendly and not aggressive at all. They don’t usually sting humans unless you hurt them or try to destroy their nest.
