SUMMARY: A recent study suggests that GLP-1 receptor agonists, like Ozempic and Wegovy, offer a range of health benefits beyond weight loss and blood sugar control. These include potential improvements in brain health, such as reduced risks of addiction-related disorders, psychotic conditions, and Alzheimer’s disease. The drugs’ effects on brain receptors and their anti-inflammatory properties may contribute to these benefits. However, they also carry risks, such as increased chances of arthritis and pancreatitis, emphasizing the need for further research to fully understand their overall impact.

My whole body feels less inflamed on these meds. Also, it’s easier for me not to doom scroll on GLP meds. It truly is an absolute crime that these medications aren’t more widely available to insured Americans. $1700usd for a month’s supply is absurd. Also, I was a fuckin alcoholic and went from drinking 9 beers a night for years to ZERO. On these meds. Fucking ZERO.
Also, does anyone know how many junk food companies/tobacco/alcohol companies are actively lobbying against any legislation that would make these drugs more widely available in America? I feel like it’s probably all of them
