The governments of four Asia-Pacific democracies have met in Washington as alarm spreads through the region, triggered by President Trump appearing to accept North Korea’s formal status as a nuclear-armed nation.
The foreign ministers of the “Quad” — Australia, India, Japan and the United States — promised “shared commitment to strengthening a free and open Indo-Pacific, where the rule of law, democratic values, sovereignty and territorial integrity are upheld and defended”.
The Quad grouping is an expression of solidarity in reaction to the growing power and assertiveness of China. But doubts about the new US administration have been increased by Trump’s reference to Kim Jong-un as “a nuclear power”, a term that is generally applied only to the US, Russia, China, France and Britain.

I don’t think there is any real commotion among “the quad” caused by Trump calling North Korea what it is. This is just sensationalized news and is largely irrelevant to r/geopolitics imo.
No one here (or in any of the above mentioned nations) is learning that North Korea has nukes for the first time. This does not change anything regarding any nations stance towards them.

Why? North Korea having nuclear weapon is not a new development, didn’t we know about this already for 10+ years
