SS: Despite Canada’s ban on Russian crude, millions of dollars worth of Russian oil is entering the country through a loophole that allows refined petroleum from third countries, particularly India, to bypass sanctions. CBC News, in collaboration with the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA), found that since the Ukraine war began, Canada has imported approximately 2.5 million barrels of refined fuel, indirectly contributing over $100 million to Russia’s war efforts. India, which does not adhere to G7 price caps, has ramped up its imports of Russian crude, with the Jamnagar refinery increasing its Russian crude intake from 3% to over 50% in 2024. This refinery then exports refined fuel worldwide, including to Canada, obscuring the Russian origin of the crude. Trade data and satellite tracking confirm that Russian oil is shipped to India via shadow fleet tankers using evasive tactics like ship-to-ship transfers and flag changes. Experts acknowledge that some of the refined fuel reaching Canadian vehicles and aircraft likely originates from Russian crude, but tracking precise quantities remains challenging. The loophole, as noted by sanctions analysts, undermines Western efforts to isolate Russia economically, highlighting India’s key role in the re-routing of Russian energy. So, what know?
Trump already want’s to impose 25 percent tariffs on Canada.
What worse can you expect now?

    3. Yes, that’s already been known. The purpose is so that Russia can’t fully maximize profit from the oil sales. If they were cut off completely it would spike oil like crazy and everything else along with it.

India also benefits from this as an intermediary which is intended. India is where global investments switched to from China. (Apple with Foxconn among others)
