Ich fahre in ein paar Wochen zum Arbeiten nach Malta und das Geschäft, in dem ich arbeiten werde, hat scheinbar unregelmäßige Öffnungszeiten. Aus dänischer Sicht ist es mit nichts vergleichbar, was ich je gesehen habe. Könnte mir jemand sagen, ob dies eine normale Praxis ist oder ob die Stunden falsch registriert sein könnten? Ich konnte in meiner schnellen Google-Suche nichts darüber finden.

Note: I’m talking generally, but primarily the VERY short days (9am-1pm), but also the 3 hour gap in-between on some of the days
Not uncommon in retail. You will be working the missing hours on Saturday. I used to work like this ages ago, was decent to go at home to eat lunch, maybe the gym, but going to work twice a day quickly became a nuisance..
Quite a few stores have mid-day break. Inconvenient sometimes… but during the summer heat makes perfect sense.
Not uncommon esp for smaller, family run stores. Close the shop during lunch and you can go home for lunch and no need to have extra people working to keep the shop open.
Mid summer this will make so much sense to you. Break in the middle of the day to go home and nap in the cool.

Closed Sunday, half-day Wednesday and Saturday, with truly epic lunch breaks. The only truly weird part of this is they chose to list this Wednesday-first.
Curious… Why would you come to Malta for a 2 week break, and work at the same time?
It’s normal. There’s something called heat here. In winter it’s a nice caress that you will seek whenever you get out of a building, but in summer you will be running from it, especially during the middle of the day when you won’t even let your worst enemy venture outside. Because of this they created the siesta – a few hours after midday where everyone goes to rest from the vile sun and it’s far reaching tentacles of heat.
There is a move towards whole day opening hours now, but some businesses, especially those in residential towns and pharmacies for some reason, kept to the traditional system.
I have no idea what you will be coming over to do here. The pay is shit compared to Denmark and our infrastructure is like how yours was during the war. There are too many people and too little green areas. I can only offer thoughts and prayers – but I need those to survive myself so you’re getting nothing. I suggest looking for other countries seriously.
Those are (or were) standard shop hours in malta.
The bus ride is worrying me. Sliema to Mellieha is going to take a long time, especially in traffic. Do you have an option to live closer to mellieha?
