Might as well be the first sentence: „Me and my nonexisting wife want to scam you“. Its one of the most common scams that people come to this sub for asking whether its a scam or not.
The German is very bad and when was the last time you heard someone sharing intimite health details of their family up front.

110% Scam
Not necessarily a scam. Could also just be an older couple of a different nationality, that struggles with the German language and has never in their life rented out an apartment and haven’t rented themselves in a long time.
However, even if it turns out not to be a scam, I wouldn’t rent through them, because they basically tell you, that you can’t contact them, once you have rented the place, because they live far away and have to take care of their sick daughter.
Meaning if anything happens with the apartment, that they have to repair etc., they won’t.
