Über die Weihnachtsfeiertage hatte ich die wunderbare Gelegenheit, in der Nähe der kleinen Stadt Salida, Colorado, zu einem dunklen Himmel (B1) zu gehen. Dieses Objekt war mein Ziel, als ich dort drei Nächte verbrachte. Aber Mutter Natur hatte eine andere Idee. Die erste Nacht war von Wolken geplagt, es war also ein Durcheinander. In der zweiten und dritten Nacht bekam ich einen leichten Wolkenbruch und konnte ein paar Bilder machen. Der Wind in der dritten Nacht schüttelte jedoch mein Zielfernrohr herum, sodass etwa die Hälfte dieser Fotos weggeworfen werden musste. Aber ich bin mit den Ergebnissen zufrieden, abgesehen von den lila Sternen.
Der Flammensternnebel (IC405) und der Kaulquappennebel (IC410) sind wunderschöne Emissionsnebel im Sternbild Auriga. Befindet sich 1.500 Lichtjahre bzw. 12.000 Lichtjahre von der Erde entfernt.

Over the Christmas holiday I had the wonderful opportunity to go to a dark sky(B1) near the small town of Salida, Colorado. This object was my goal while I spent three nights there. But mother nature had a different idea. Night one was plagued with clouds so that was a wash. Night two and three I got a slight break in the clouds and was able to get some pictures taken. The wind on the third night did however shake my scope around causing about 1/2 of those photos needing to be tossed out. But I am happy with the results, minus the purple stars.
The Flaming Star Nebula (IC405) and the Tadpole Nebula (IC410) are beautiful emission nebulas located in the constellation Auriga. Located 1,500 light-years and 12,000 light-years from Earth respectively.
