Unterstützt dies die Behauptung, dass die Hauptquelle der Verschmutzung nicht unbedingt von Eriwan selbst ausgeht (was nicht bedeutet, dass Eriwan nicht auch einen großen Beitrag dazu leistet), sondern eher von der Igdir-Luft, die nach Eriwan wandert?

People post so much about air quality in Yerevan on Reddit, like it’s a monitoring center. I’m 24, and the air here has pretty much always been like this.
What happened? I came in the summer, there were no such problems.
All the cities and towns in the Ararat Valley contribute to air pollution; Yerevan, Igdir, Artashat, Ejmiatsin, etc. The reason it gets so bad is that the valley is surrounded by high mountains on all sides which disrupts air from coming in or leaving.
In the summer we frequently get a strong wind coming down from the mountains in the evening. This wind blows the pollution out of the valley. In the winter there’s very little wind, so the pollution in the air has nowhere to go and builds up as smog.
