Thank you. Way too many people think Artemis and associate it with a launch vehicle. It’s a Cislunar architecture, a system of integrated systems. Its contracted services and products, its federal laboratories, its NASA’s astronaut corps, its thousands of scientists at participating institutions- it’s more than a rocket.

Although I’m a space and science enthusiast, sending humans to the Moon (or Mars) seems like a huge waste of money and effort. Let’s send some AI-driven robots instead. Yes, it’s all very fine to hype up the romantic notion of ‘humans want to explore’, but at what cost?
As was the case in the 60s, sending humans to the moon is a political project, not a science nor engineering project – although these sectors will of course benefit tremendously in terms of money and employment, and such projects are an engineering marvel.
To be frank, I think if humans will land on the moon during the next decade, it will be a Chinese crew. But this is unfounded speculation, of course 😉
The main question is still there. Why?
