Also Cameras „see“ a wider spectrum of colors. Often you can capture good looking images without seeing anything with your eyes.

    2. Also, I’ve seen it a few times and it was magnificent every time. Even the weaker ones.

Honestly, though the brightness is more like the right image, I found the real thing way more impressive than the left image in real life. I think it’s hard to overhype the real thing

All I take from this is that we should take light pollution mroe seriously.

    5. Well, sometimes, with it actually looks like the one in the left picture, except for the amount of purple color. But normally, it looks like the one on the right. I agree that the left picture represents the camera’s point of view and not real life. Rarely, but occasionally, there are major solar eruptions that create an incredible amount of auroras. The whole sky covered in dynamic aurora. I live in Troms and have experienced it a handful of times in my 40+ years of life.

    6. Not doubting the facts in this. But I have in fact seen auroras looking like the first kind with my own eyes. It was quite spectacular.

    7. Seen what feels like the enhanced version but that is not something to expect for sure.

Frequently when ive noticed it ive thought its highbeams from another car approaching far off at first.

    8. It’s fairly rare (because I don’t go looking for it), but I’ve seen aurora as strong as, or even stronger than, the left picture more than once. A few of those times was on city streets with high light pollution, so you can only imagine how strong it would have been in a dark place.
