I mean all things considered 100million years is basically a rounding error for something like the age of the moon
In infinite space is 100 million really that big of a deal?
This is a serious question as I am just a stupid person
The paper (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-024-08231-0, open access!) seems to mainly discuss why the evidence that previous studies used to find younger ages for the Moon is unreliable. It proposed that the Moon was remelted as it moved away from Earth and encountered what I can only describe as “tidal magic”. This deleted all old impact basins and reseted the rocks, causing the Moon to appear younger than it actually is.
