I see these from time to time here in Finland when it’s really cold.

The ring is a 22 degree halo, the bright spots on either side of the ring are moon dogs, and it kinda looks like there might be a very faint paraselenic circle.

Thats beautiful! I’d have called it a moon dog, but others suggest it’s just a halo – I’ve seen moon halos, but this is waaaaay better than what I’ve witnessed! Either way, stunning shot 🙂

It’s due to the presence of ice crystals in the atmosphere–its called a ~~[sun dog](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_dog?wprov=sfla1)!~~ moon halo (I wrote this before my morning coffee)
