Danke.

You get paid based on the amount of days that you worked – for the hours that you worked in November did you get paid below minimum wage per hour?
According to them you have worked 122 hours since you started. Full time should be around 174 hours per month. Are you sure you have a full time contract and you logged the hours correctly?
They paid you for 99.05 hours from 08.11. to 30.11. Your hourly wage is €14.31. That would be €1417. In addition, you receive some additional pay for every actual hour worked.
From that, taxes and Sozialversicherungsabgaben will be deducted. €1100 seems plausible in this case.
Here’s what you should do in your situation:
What to Do:
1. Verify the Calculation: Based on your post, your effective hourly wage is €15.65, and you worked 122 hours, so your gross pay should be around €1,910.51. If you only received €1,100, this might be due to a misunderstanding in the calculation, deductions, or a pro-rated payment for November.
2. Understand Deductions: In Germany, your gross pay is subject to several deductions:
• Income tax (Lohnsteuer): Based on your tax class (Steuerklasse).
• Social security contributions: These include health insurance, pension insurance, unemployment insurance, and long-term care insurance. These can total around 20–25% of your gross pay.
• Church tax (Kirchensteuer): If you’re registered with a church, a small percentage (8–9%) may also be deducted.
If these deductions were applied, your net pay could indeed be lower than expected, but €1,100 seems very low for 122 hours of work at €15.65/hour.
Questions to Ask Your Employer:
1. Why was my pay based on only 99.05 hours if I worked 122 hours?
2. Can you explain the difference between the “verfestigter Stundenlohn” (fixed hourly wage) and payment for actual hours worked?
3. What deductions were applied to my gross pay? Can I see a breakdown?
4. Does my employment contract or the collective agreement (Tarifvertrag) include specific rules for calculating wages for partial months?
5. Were there any additional adjustments that might have lowered my net pay?
How to Approach It:
Email or talk to your HR department with these questions and request a detailed payslip (Gehaltsabrechnung) for November. This will show exactly how your pay was calculated, including gross wages, hours worked, and all deductions.
If their explanation is unclear or seems incorrect, you can reach out to a Gewerkschaft (union) or a labor lawyer for advice. Miscalculations can happen, but a detailed payslip should clarify whether everything is correct.
Let me know if you need help interpreting your payslip!
You get paid 14,31€/ hour for 99,05 hours, the “default” amount of hours based on your start on 8.11.2024.
You get the extras (+0,36€ and +0,98€ / hours) on only the actual work hours you’ve worked.
Since you’ve worked 122,08 hours you got paid 15,65€/ hour which should be around 1910,5€. Less taxes and you should be around 1000€.
Had you worked less than 99,05 hours, say 70 hours you would’ve earned 14,31€/hours for 99,05 hours and an extra 1,34€/hour for 70 hours.
Hope this helps.
If I am understanding this correclty, you get a basic hourly wage of 14,31€ and additionally 0,36€ and 0,98€ per hour. So 15,65€ per hour, as you have worked 99,05 hours in November (or to be more precise in the period used for the monthly wage) and thus you should have earned around 1550 before taxes and other social expenses (Thats your „Brutto Gehalt“). Using a calculator, you should have gotten around 1195€ after taxes and expenses (Your „Netto Gehalt“).
As you have started on 8th of November, you didn’t work for the full month and thus only received the partial amount, based on your hours worked.
The minimum wage is only for the hourly wage and independent from your total workload.
Minimum wage is pre taxes and social contributions. It seems like you need to brush up on those.
This says that your wage is comprised of three different wages rolled into one:
Wage 1 („Lohnart“ = wage type 105) is a fixed wage that gets payed for a fixed / virtual amount of hours per month. The sum given here is 99,05 hours and it has been adjusted for the fact that you did not start your job at the 1st of November but rather the 8th. So 99,05 times €14,31 is €1417,41.
The other two wage types are payed based on the real amount of hours that you worked, which amounts to 122,08 hours times €1,34 = €163,59.
So all in all you should have received €1.581 before taxes.
So you have a total wage of 15,65 € per hour which is above minimum wage (12,41 €).
15,65 € per hour x 99,05 hours = 1550 € (gross).
After taxes, this is ~ 1100 – 1300 €, depending on many individual things.
Next month, you probably receive ~2000 € (gross) / 1600 € (net) as you are working a full month.
I do not know what the different „Lohnarten“ are, but they basically said your hourly wage is 15.65€.
You were paid for 99.05 hours in November which according to them is for the amount of hours in the contract, minus the first 7 days of the month, because you started on the 8th, so 23 days.
Using this calculation your monthly hours are 99.05 / (30-7) * 30 = 129.19…, is that correct? It should be around this number if you work 30 hours per week.
Then, 99.05 * 15.65€ is roughly 1550€ gross, which depending on tax brackets and insurance should amount to around 1100-1200€ net which you would see on your bank account.
So with those assumptions the numbers make sense to me. Let me know if you need more help
A **versteigter Stundenlohn** is a fixed hourly wage paid regardless of the actual hours worked, ensuring a stable and predictable income for the employee.
I’m no expert but the calculation in this letter looks weird
To make calculations easier, most accountants use the following method:
month has 160 „Sollstunden“ and 30 days.
You started on the 8th, thats means that you missed 7 days
Anteilige Sollstunden=(23/30)×160
Anteilige Sollstunden=0,767×160
Anteilige Sollstunden=122,67
(I have no idea why he calculates with 99.5 hours.)
According to these numbers and the letter, I would calculate this:
|Description|Value|
|:-|:-|
|Fixed Hourly Wage (105)|€14.31|
|Additional Wage (194)|€0.36|
|Additional Wage (199)|€0.98|
|Total Hourly Wage|€15.65|
|Prorated Hours for November|122.67 hours|
|Total Monthly Wage|€1,919.74|
Using 99.5hrs would earn you
99.5×15.65 = 1.557,175
these numbers are brutto, btw.
Did you forget to tell us everything?
Something no one has mentioned before: some employers don’t pay you the full amount at the end of the month, because they need some time to do the proper Lohnabrechnung.
For example, at my workplace you get your base pay this month, but over time worked will be paid out the next month when they calculated all your hours worked correctly.
If they paid you for 99.05 hours at 14,31€, net pay at Steuerklasse 1 is 1100€ (1417€ brutto).
If this is the case you will get your base pay next month, plus the extra hours you worked this month and the additional amount from the actual hours worked.
