Hallo zusammen!
Ich plane mit ein paar Freunden einen Ausflug, um Aurora Borealis zu sehen (und in einem Airbnb-Ferienhaus zu entspannen). Ich habe mir (ganz) ungefähr folgende Reiseroute ausgedacht:
1/ Treffen in Helsinki
2/ Bus oder Zug nach Rovaniemi
3/ Mieten Sie ein Auto in Rovaniemi
4/ Fahrt nach Nordnorwegen (oder Finnland) zu einem Airbnb-Ferienhaus dort
5/ Machen Sie Tagesausflüge zu Orten wie dem Reisa-Nationalpark und beobachten Sie (hoffentlich) abends das Polarlicht in unserem Airbnb
6/ zurück nach Rovaniemi, Rückmiete
7/ zurück nach Helsinki
Wir denken auch darüber nach, weiter südlich einen Mietwagen zu nehmen – möglicherweise in Helsinki oder Oulu.
Unsere größte Sorge ist: Sind die Straßen im Norden im März befahrbar? Wir sprachen über Routen wie https://maps.app.goo.gl/uEFu7bJLSL5Ggjzz6?g_st=ic
aber auch Roadtrips in die umliegenden Nationalparks.
Wir würden uns sehr über Antworten/Feedback/Vorschläge freuen!!

First rule always is that don’t build your trip around the aurora. They’re not the kind of constantly on light show that travel ads make them seem like. It’s a bonus if you do see them. Otherwise focus on the other stuff.
That road is well maintained and passable for sure.
The route should be ok unless there’s snowstorm, it might take a while to get plowed.
Prepare for longer time what Google estimates.
Roads will be fine and the rental cars have winter tires. But the main flaw is to expect the auroras. The only reliable way to see them is to spend weeks and weeks in the region. Clear skies are not common and clear skies combined with solar activity far less so.
Thus consider them as a bonus. How long will your holiday be? I assume those numbers are not days.
Also take the train as far as you can. Driving from Helsinki up north is not very enjoyable in a rush and much less so when it is dark. Sleeper trains are popular for a reason.
