I don’t think the data about Azerbaijan is reliable.
Dunno but Azerbaijan lost the war back then and had some really rough time politically and financially. Maybe that caused it to stay more or less stable.
The answer has two parts. While the data for Azerbaijan is not reliable, we did have a moment when the economy was booming and birth rates indeed went up.

No but seriously we had more population from the beginning by simple math our increase in population would be much higher. But putting math aside it’s also a cultural „mentalitet“ thing which only recently began to change with both higher global integration and shittier economy. In Azerbaijan there was ALWAYS a strong push from family members towards newly weds to have kids as soon as possible and usually more than one. Plus there’s a general push to get fucking married as well.
By judging comments in the last month I really really want to make a survey to determine the average age of this sub because it seems most people here are simply too young and haven’t faced this ABSOLUTE COLLOSAL psychological manipulation from family as you get older lmao.
