Of course, it’s fake. The tax office sends only letters (exceptional e-mails but never texts).

      Easy: Look at the link.

It’s not even a .lu site.

What the fuck is „mytax-gov-lu dotcom“, if not a scam?

    3. YES THIS IS A SCAM, THESE SERVICES NEVER SEND YOU MESSAGES LIKE THAT, DO NOT CLICK THE LINK

    4. When you get any link or demand by any way, SMS, E-Mail and even by Post, always question them unless they are certified to be conform by the Government.

In this case, different major flags.

1st – this is not a LU Address. Why would the Luxembourgish Government not use a LU address, even for a link shortener? We have link shorteners, and they all have a .lu address. One potential scam vector is using a .li address, being similar to LU on first glance.

2nd – Most official Government pages have ‚public‘ somewhere in their link. All the scammers I’ve seen are not smart enough to even add that.

3rd – The Luxembourgish Government will NEVER ask you to update and confidential fiscal or even medical information by SMS or Mail. They don’t have your phone number in most cases, and rarely ever have your mail. Any time you give your mail, or number, on official documents, it’s just as a point of contact.

For letters, whenever they request something from you there’s usually a signature and often stamp or code.

4th – The administration contacting you always identifies itself. Just because the contact name says GUICHET.L, it means literally nothing.

In case you are ever not sure, always call the administration. Hell, any administration would help you out and tell you this is a scam.

I hope this doesn’t come as to direct, but this is one of the worst scam „attempts“ I’ve seen. If you think this almost fooled you, then you should really look into taking a Scam Awareness course or even just watching a video. Scams are indeed getting increasingly dangerous, with cases of AI Voices calling Grandmas with the voice of their grandchildren saying they were kidnapped actually being a thing. You need high awareness.
