    1. That doesn’t work everywhere in Germany. Where I live, the correct protocol is to start clearing things away, and then, when your visitors start grabbing their bags and coats and saying, „Thanks for a lovely evening,“ stand around chatting for another 40 minutes.

      I am not from Germany neither from USA, but after reading it I almost left my apartment

    3. Replace „welp“ with „tja“ and this would certainly work with most visitors in my region of Germany.

      Used to live in the Midwest. Can confirm that this is super common there. Random fun fact: There’s even a village in Michigan called Frankenmuth which is designed to look like a Bavarian village 😅
