Saving money before getting the license. Nowadays, it can easily cost up to 3500€, so people save this amount of money beforehand.

Rule of thumb: A driving license for a car costs about 3’000€.

A driving license has always been pricey and people have always known that, so they prepared by saving, as the other commenters said.
A lot of teens have Konfirmation/Kirchweihe at age 14 and get comparatively much money from family, family friends and neighbors. They often used to put that money into fixed savings accounts for 4 years specifically for the driver’s license.
Many teens start working part time jobs between the age of 14 and 18 and save a portion of that income for the license. And family members might gift you „2 driving lessons“ for your 17th or 18th birthday.
Most people do get their license while still living with their parents and having no or very little other financial responsibilities. They know that these costs are coming and prepare for it, sometimes years in advance. I don’t know a single person who went into debt just for the license.

This price is normal. The difference could be around 200-300 if you ’shop‘ around. Be aware that the you will need to reach for classes on time if you select a place where it’s difficult to reach.
Actually these price doesn’t matter much. What matters is the driving school/instructor attitude. If they teach well and doesn’t drag the test date, get it there. It’s the hours of training which the school makes you do adds up much more than the rate

You can get it also paid for by the Arbeitsamt, if you have an offer for a job that you need a licence for or can’t get to without.

Pretty normal prices. I pay even more. 100€ per normal lesson, 120€ for the special ones. Getting a license in Germany these days is RIDICULOUSLY expensive (as in easily 4000€).

Thank goodness for American reciprocity agreements!
Cost me about 50 euros, 20 for the photo about 30 or so for the exchange fee/paperwork
I feel horrible for anyone who has to pay these prices – especially more than once.

For practical there are only the obligatory „special“ instructions listed. Depending on how good your driving already is, there should at least 4-6 hours orf practical/practice added.
